FAQ's

Q: How do I schedule pictures with Pittman Photography?
A: You can begin by filling out the on-line Picture Day Reservation Form on this website. Make sure to include the contact information, the size of your organization and your desired shoot date. You can also call 610-262-0967 and ask for Angie Tigar (ext 222).

Q: What are the responsibilities of the photo coordinator?
A: Please click this link

Q: Are indoor shoot locations better than outdoor locations?
A: Yes. Unfortunately, we have not learned how to control the weather. Pittman provides either scenic backgrounds depicting professional sports stadiums, muslins, or painted canvas for individual photos; and curtained backgrounds for team photos. Studio lights help us provide excellent portraits. There is never any wind, rain, bugs or harsh sunlight indoors. Churches, fire halls, and schools are ideal locations.

Q: Do pictures have to be taken on a Saturday or Sunday?
A: Pittman Photography is flexible and will try to accommodate all requests. Many organizations prefer weekday shoots because they do not have to compromise their game day or weekend practice schedules. We are limited by the amount of daylight available, so evening shoots work best when they are scheduled indoors.

Q: How long does it take to photograph a team?
A: Smaller groups (10-20 children) such as: baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc. can be photographed in 15 minute intervals. Larger groups (20+ children) such as: football, cheering, track, band, etc. require about 20-30 minutes per team. Please contact us to help determine the appropriate time allotment.

Q: Does Pittman Photography start on time and stay on time?
A: Yes, provided that we can gain access to the field or indoor location with sufficient time to set up all of our equipment. We depend entirely on the photo coordinator from your organization to open doors and unlock gates. Our photographers need time to choose locations, set up and perform lighting and equipment tests prior to the first scheduled team. When the teams arrive on time, we stay on time.

Q: How is Ordering / Payment handled?
A: We will provide envelopes well in advance of your scheduled shoot date. Distribute the envelopes to the coaches approximately 2 weeks prior to picture day. The coaches should immediately hand out the envelopes with instructions to have them filled out and ready to go on picture day.

Q: How important is it that the envelope is filled out and the money enclosed prior to picture day?
A: This is very important. We must stay on schedule. Parents should make sure that their child has the completed envelope in hand and is ready to go at the scheduled time. Our goal is to provide quality portraiture in a timely manner.

Q: Will you have extra photo envelopes at the field in case someone forgets theirs?
A: Yes. We always carry a sufficient supply.

Q: How do you handle late arrivals on shoot day?
A: To remain on schedule, our photographers are instructed to be as accommodating as possible without delaying the next scheduled team. We will always photograph the individual child that arrives late.

Q: Can the photographers make change?
A: The photographers do not carry money and do not have time to make change.

Q: Is there an additional charge for more than one child in a photo (brothers/sisters)?
A: No. We will try to accommodate all requests. We limit this to 4 children.

Q: When do our photos arrive?
A: Pittman Photography's modern photo finishing facility allows us to produce, package and deliver all photo orders in 21 days or less. Normal delivery time is approximately 14 days.

Q: How are the photographs packaged?
A: Every child's order is individually packaged in a clear poly bag. The orders are sorted and packaged into team bags so the organization will have an easy time with distribution to the coaches.

Q: Can parents order additional photos after they have seen the prints?
A: Yes. A reorder form is included with each finished packet of photographs.

Q: What if I don't like my child's pictures?
A: We will gladly retake the photograph. You are welcome to come to our studio in Northampton, PA or we can make arrangements to meet at an upcoming shoot. Please contact us to make arrangements.

Q: Can Picture Day be used as a fund raiser for our organization?
A: Yes. There are many options available and we would be happy to discuss them with your organization. For more information please contact Dave Stemrich at 610-262-0967 (ext 234).

Q: What happens if it rains on Picture Day?
A: We always discuss the possibility of bad weather with the photo coordinator. We encourage the organization to have an indoor location ready as a back-up plan if it rains. If arrangements are made prior to Picture Day, our photographers will be prepared to move indoors.

Q: Are make-up days available if weather causes us to cancel?
A: We try to schedule a back up location for every shoot in the event of inclement weather. Our photographers are prepared to move indoors if necessary. However, if no alternate location can be secured, we will make every attempt to re-schedule.

Q: Is there really a "John C. Pittman?"
A: Yes there is! John loves this question. You will see him out in the field photographing many different sports. Since John can only cover one league at a time, he has trained a staff of professional sports photographers that are the best in the industry. Do say "hello" when you see John. He has been doing this for many years and says he still likes going to work.
